Woman & The Society

Women often face discrimination, limited opportunities, and a lack of support when it comes to advancing their careers. Gender bias, which is at the root of this, and is still rife in the workplace, is one of the most significant barriers that hinder women's career advancement. The result is an increased rate of entrepreneurship among women, which has continued three years on, with women making up 47% and 49% of new business owners in 2021 and in 2022. In 2023, WTAL collected over thousands of surveys from women that attended our events, and in excess of 14% of these were concerns about the difficulty around entrepreneurship for women and the manner in which the city (and province) are constituting an encumbering environment for women.

At this event, you can expect to hear our panel challenge ideas about the entrepreneurship community/ecosystem and its impact on women, too engage in meaningful conversations, and network to build new and existing connections.
